Another trouble is, that the DVR is always recording, even If I exclude options "manual recording, time recording and motion".

Well... not everywhere I want to place my cameras do I have a power outlet but some places I do have "multimedia" jacks (for like surround sound speakers, etc). Does anyone have an electrical engineering degree? LOL j/k

What I need it a way to hardwire the power for the wireless cameras in their desired location. Any ideas or other options would be greatly appreciated as well.

Hi,

I am rather disappointed with my recently purchased CPCAM - CPD501Z DVR for 3 reasons.
1) The cooling fan is very noisy and it can be heard all over the house and drives us all mad! - Can this fan be changed to a quieter model? If I disconnect it completely I fear that the HD may overheat.

2) Recorded picture quality is very poor and people cannot be recognized at all - is this the compression format or do I need better cameras maybe?

3) the instruction book is useless and very basic for first time users.

Thanks for any advise / comments.

Two questions:
In the same computer can you use 2 ndrx204 to use 8 cameras?
(aka will the software recognize them - FX client)

If I install multiple sound cards can I define the feeds for the cards to the cameras for recording, or is the recording source indefinable for multiple computers?

Thanks,

Hey all,

Perhaps someone can shed some light on this issue: If the maximum number of horizontal scan lines standardized by the NTSC is 525, how is it possible to achieve a maximum horizontal television resolution of 550 lines? Are manufacturers of high-resolution cameras over quoting their cameras resolution specs. when they list values over 525 TVL? I have heard that some of the lines are used for other things like sync pulses, color information, etc. Please advise.

I recently purchased a CPAM507D with multiple cameras and 4 audio microphones.

I was testing out the system last night, hooked up a microphone and 2 cameras.

I had no problem getting video, but couldn't get the audio to play.

I use this system over the network (RJ45) and don't actually have a monitor or speakers hooked up to the system. How do I hear the audio, and associate it with one or more cameras?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I think everyone took off this afternoon for an early t-day start when I tried calling.

Hey Guys,

I have this installation coming up soon wherein I have to lay four cable runs each of which is approximately 1,500 linear feet. In previous installations I have noticed strange picture aberrations which I suppose are do in part to excessive cable runs. Usually, I can get by with using RG59 coaxial cable as my transmission medium but I do not believe it wise to utilize this cable type for this installation as my installer friends have informed me of the cables shortcomings (max. cable run of 350 meters). I love working with RG59 and would prefer using the rest of my supplies for this installation. Can someone advise on a means of signal boosting without attenuation? Do there exist products which can safely boost composite video signal gain without introducing unwanted noise into my clients picture. If so, what is/are the manufacture(s) and, just how do they work? Any an all help appreciated.

P.S.-Hey, when can we start to see other types of cable such as RG11, CAT5 & 6, etc. I mean I would definitely be interested in purchasing some RG11, especially at your prices; I heard it is nearly twice as efficient at propagating the required 1Vp-p composite video signal.

Thanks,
Dr. CCTV
